In the Media

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Gilder has made several appearances in the media – both mainstream and medical – in recent years. These include:

• ITV Tees (2021): Television interview about online abuse, social media and cyberbullying. Dr Gilder gave her insight on Social Media Kindness Day 2021.

• BBC Radio Tees (2018): Radio interview about autism and ADHD diagnosis in children and young people. Dr Gilder was asked to respond to comments made by Dr Shooter, a psychiatrist, who had been quoted in the national media speaking negatively about the increasing rates of diagnosis. This also linked into issues raised locally about assessment waiting times.

• BMA News (2018): Dr Gilder was quoted in a news article about the demand on CAMHS services.

• ITV Tyne Tees News (2017): Dr Gilder was interviewed about self-harm and young people.

• BMA News (2017): News article about the number of children and young people being admitted to inpatient units out of area. Dr Gilder was interviewed as Clinical Director for a number of community CAMHS teams.

Dr Gilder also contributed a chapter to the book The Young Mind: An essential guide to children & adolescents’ mental health problems for parents, teachers & young adults (2009).
