Common issues & difficulties

The main conditions we manage at NECP include (but are not limited to):

ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder). Dr Gilder and NECP are committed to providing a robust and comprehensive ADHD assessment, which involves multiple steps. Find out more here.

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). This is sometimes called Social Communication Disorder or high functioning ASD, and used to be called Asperger’s syndrome.

Anxiety Disorders, including generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Depression.

Self-harm.

Other mood disorders (eg bipolar affective disorder).

Tic disorders and Tourette’s Syndrome.

Psychosis.

Sleep disorders (normally as part of a neurodevelopmental disorder such as ADHD or ASD but occasionally as part of a mood or anxiety disorder or due to psychosis).

Emerging personality difficulties.

Behaviours that challenge normally as part of a neurodevelopmental disorder such as ADHD or ASD or as a consequence of early life trauma.

There are also conditions which we may be involved in, but where we should also have the involvement of other specialists.  These include:

Eating Disorders.

Substance use difficulties, including alcohol, cannabis, stimulants and sedatives.

Mental health difficulties as part of specific learning difficulties / borderline or mild learning disability.
