Dr Zoë Gilder has specialised in working with children and young people for more than 17 years. Dr Gilder qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2000. She completed three years working in general medicine and surgery, before deciding on a career in psychiatry. She then spent a number of years training in general psychiatry and secured her Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2006. After that Dr Gilder specialised in working with children and young people and has been on the GMC Specialist Register (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry) since 2010. She has been working full-time as an NHS Consultant since then and has over 13 years’ experience at that level.
Dr Gilder has worked with hundreds of young people and their families/carers. She has experience in providing assessment and care in all areas of young people’s mental health.
Dr Gilder also undertook specialist training in teaching and was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education (PGCCE) in 2011. She has used her teaching skills to improve awareness and understanding of young people’s mental health issues with teachers and school pastoral support staff, GPs, hospital Paediatricians, health visitors, children’s social workers, and youth workers amongst others.
Dr Gilder is the Medical Director of NECP, established in autumn 2020.
