About NECP

North East Child Psychiatry was founded in autumn 2020 by Dr Zoë Gilder, a full-time NHS Consultant for more than a decade, and a specialist in working with children, young people and their families. Based in North Tyneside, NECP provides high-quality psychiatric services to under-18s and their parents, carers and families, within the local area and beyond.

NECP is committed to supporting children and young people with their mental health needs in a rapid and responsive way, fully catering to their individual requirements and wants. NECP and Dr Gilder work closely and in partnership with other involved agencies such as schools and child health services (with the appropriate consent from the young person/guardian). Dr Gilder also provides consultancy and supervision to other agencies working with children and young people, and offers bespoke teaching and training packages within her field of expertise.

NECP see children, young people and their families at our clinic base in Monkseaton, as well as providing telephone and video reviews. Got a question or need to get in touch? Please contact us here.

NECP’s Charities:

North East Child Psychiatry is keen to support charities locally, in the UK and internationally. We are proud to contribute monthly to three charities:

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Their dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls; ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women and girls, everywhere, can create the future they want. NECP sponsors a child.

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. They get millions of children reading by supporting families to start sharing stories and books together from the earliest possible age. BookTrust provides books, guidance and resources to families to ensure that all children have access to stories in their home and develop a reading habit. NECP is a BookTrust Friend.

Tynemouth Seal Hospital is operated by local volunteers and Tynemouth Aquarium staff who work together caring for injured & unwell seals, nursing them back to health then releasing them back into the wild.
